본 연구에서는 기존에 국내·국외에서 수행된 주요 웹사이트의 사용성 평가와 관련된 연구에 적용된 기준을 비교·분석하여, 우리나라 디지털도서관의 웹사이트 평가에 적용 가능한 일반적인 웹사이트 사용성 평가기준을 도출함으로써 향후 이용자 서비스의 품질향상을 통한 효율적인 웹서비스를 제공할 수 있기 위한 근거를 마련하고자 한다. 디지털도서관 웹사이트를 대상으로 한 사용성 평가기준은 서로 다른 수많은 특성과 목적을 가지고 운영되는 웹사이트에 일률적으로 적용되어질 수는 없다. 적용대상에 따라 평가 기준이 달라지거나 최소한 각 평각기준의 비중이 달라져야 할 것이다. 디지털도서관 웹사이트의 경우 대학도서관, 공공도서관, 전문도서관, 학교도서관 등 해당 분야별로 특성에 따른 웹사이트가 구축되어진다. 본 연구에서 제시한 디지털도서관 웹사이트 사용성 평가기준(안)은 일반적으로 준수해야 할 항목에서의 기준이라 할 수 있다
Abstract
This study is to develope the usability evaluation criteria for improving quality of user services in digital library website. It compared and analyzed major eight studies concerning usability evaluation of library website in foreign and domestic. This paper was suggested 36 items of evaluation criteria that are belongs to six domain(quality of links, feedback mechanism, accessibility, design, navigation and searching). 본 연구의 목적은 이용자에게 효율적인 도서관 및 정보이용안내를 제공하는데 있다 본 연구의 목적달성을 위하여, 도서관 FAQ의 구조적 특성과 질의내용을 분석하여 효과적인 FAQ의 접근단계와 환경변화에 따른 안내항목을 제안하였다. 또한 도서관이용법과 관련된 도서내용과 FAQ질의 내용을 비교 분석하여 새로이 추가되거나 강화되어야 할 내용을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 도서관 이용에 관한 FAQ의 작성과 관련하여 포함되어야 할 사항의 결정은 물론 도서관 정보이용 교재개발 등의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide library users with the effective way of use on academic library and its collection. In order to achieve this purpose the menu structure and question contents appearing at the FAQs of academic library Website were analyzed. And also, guidelines for effective use of a university library via FAQ at different access stages were proposed. It is expected that the result of this study can help both a Web designer to the development and implementation of efficient library FAQs and a creator of a library use guidebook.

대학도서관에서 제공하고 있는 디지털참고봉사의 현황을 이해하기 위하여 전국적인 조사를 수행하여 분석하였다. 2003년 7월 8일부터 7월 22일까지 직접 접속을 통한 관찰과 질문응답 기록을 통하여 데이터를 수집하였다. 우리나라 4년제 대학 중 171개 도서관이 디지털참고봉사를 제공하는 것으로 나타났으며, 접근수준, 명칭, 서비스방식, 웹폼, 서비스정책 등 디지털참고봉사 제공 관련 특성과 이용량, 응답비율, 질문유형 등 이용관련 특성을 분석하였다. 현황과 문제점이 식별되고, 도서관 서비스로 확립되기 위한 제언이 이루어졌다.
Abstract
To understand current state of the digital reference services in Korean academic libraries, a comprehensive examination and analysis was performed. Data was collected from July 8. 2003 to July 22. 2003, through direct site examination and recording the question and answer transcripts. The analysis focused on the provision characteristics and use of the digital reference services. Results revealed interesting findings and related problems. Suggestions for future development are provided.

법정 납본 제도는 국가문헌의 망라적 수집과 보존이라는 국가도서관의 기능을 수행하는데 필수적 도구이다. 최근 급증하는 디지털자료의 특성으로 인해 인쇄자료에 기반을 둔 납본법을 개정해야 할 필요가 생겼다. 우리나라를 비롯해서 여러 나라 납본제도의 디지털자료 관련 최근 동향을 조사하였다. 국립디지털도서관의 설립을 앞두고 디지털자료의 수집을 위한 법정 납본 제도의 확대 강화를 위해 필요한 전략을 제안하였다.
Abstract
Legal deposit system is an essential tool for a national library to ensure the preservation and access to a nation's intellectual heritage over time. Substantial amounts of digital materials of national cultural value are already being published. There is a global trend towards extending legal deposit to cover digital materials in order to maintain comprehensive national archives. This paper gives a progress report of some countries around the world whose legal deposit laws have already updated or are under revision. Some strategies are suggested for the digital collection building of the Korean National Digital Library which will open in 2008.

전자책 서비스업체는 전자책에 대한 충분한 데이터를 제공하고 있지 않기 때문에 대부분의 도서관은 전자책의 목록정보를 도서관의 목록에 자동으로 다운로드할 수 없다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 다양한 메타데이터 간의 호환성 및 상호운용성을 확보하기 위하여 전자책 라이브러리를 위한 메타데이터를 개발하였다. 이를 위해 전자책 서비스업체에서 사용하는 메타데이터, KS X 6100 메타데이터, 더블린코어, MARC, TEI Header등을 비교 분석하여 공통의 메타데이터 요소들을 도출하였다. 도출된 공통의 메타데이터 요소를 핵심 기술 요소로 정의하고, 그 외 전자책 고유 특성을 나타내는 메타데이터 요소를 상세 및 추가 기술 요소로 정의하였다.
Abstract
The information about eBook cannot be added automatically to library catalog because the eBook Service Provider does not provide enough eBook metadata. Therefore, this paper was developed the eBook library's metadata in order to maintain the compatibility and interoperability among various metadata standard. In trying to accomplish this, we have comparatively analyzed the eBook service provider's metadata, KS X 6100 metadata, Dublin Core, MARC, and TEI Header, and extracted common metadata elements from them. We defined these common metadata elements as a core element and added other elements that uniquely describe eBook characteristics as a detailed and additional elements for eBook metadata.
