본 연구는 상호대차활성화에 따른 이.공계열 외국학술지의 이용빈도를 조사해보고, 외국학술지 분담구독의 모델을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 이용연구는 2000년도 E대학도서관의 459종의 구독학술지와 144종의 분담구독 학술지를 포함한 총 603종을 평가대상으로 하여 관내 이용통계와 상호대차통계를 분석한 것이다. 본 연구결과 439종의 학술지가 1회 이상 이용되었으며, 164종의 불용학술지가 조사되었다. 또한 E대학 이용자의 이용빈도와 JCR의 주제분야별 총인용빈도 상위학술지간에는 상관성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다양한 이용분석을 통하여 본 연구는 효과적인 학술지 관리방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this use study is to evaluate foreign science and technology serials with reference to the result of interlibrary loan activity and to present the model of cooperative acquisition. This study was based upon an analysis of actual use data by library users and interlibrary loan from March 1, 2000 to February 28, 2001. 603 titles of foreign serials which were composed of 459 subscription titles of E University Library and 144 cooperative acquisition titles in the fields of science and technology were analyzed. The study reveals that only 439 serials(72.8%) were used even more once and 164 serials were not used at all during 1 year interval. A relationship was found between rankings of serials as measured by use and JCR citation ranking. Based upon various aspects of use analysis, this study suggested effective techniques for managing academic serials.

1990년대에 들어서면서 보편화되기 시작한 정보화의 물결은 도서관의 서비스 형태에도 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 그러나 도서관 이용자의 입장에서는 어떤 형태의 서비스가 제공되더라도 기본적으로 이용자가 제공받는 서비스일 뿐, 도서관 이용에 대한 느낌이나 감정 등을 포함하는 서비스의 만족도는 제공받은 서비스의 품질에 의해서 좌우될 수밖에 없다는 특성을 갖는다. 본 연구는 도서관의 서비스 제공이 갖는 이러한 기본적인 특성에 착안하여 이용자들의 관점에서 서비스의 품질 수준을 평가하고, 이에 영향을 미치는 주된 요인들을 파악하여, 향후 더욱 높은 수준의 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하고자 하였다. 연구의 모형으로는 서비스 품질을 측정할 때 이용되는 서브퀄(SERVQUAL) 모형을 채택하여, 전문도서관에서 이용자들이 느끼는 서비스 품질에 대한 기대와 지각을 측정하였다.
Abstract
The rapid change in almost every area of science at the turn of the 21st century have also affected libraries and information centers. Whatever the change, from the library users' perspective, the functions provided by the library, is perceived as “service” and the satisfaction of the users can only be measured by the quality of the service. The study adopted the SERVQUAL model and five factors of SERVQUAL, Tangibles, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy are used as parameter values. In measuring the parameter variable, both the users' expectations and their perceived service level were measured. The difference between the expectations and the perceived level was used as users' assessment of service quality. According to the results, all but re-investment dependence level among the five SERVQUAL levels, were linked in one way or another.

본 연구는 무선인터넷의 개념 및 특성을 고찰하고 도서관 무선인터넷 서비스의 국내외 현황과 이용자들의 이용실태 및 요구사항 등을 분석하였다. 도서관 무선인터넷 서비스가 활성화되기 위해서는 도서관의 전략적인 계획 및 홍보, 학생들의 선호하는 유형의 무선인터넷 서비스의 우선 도입, 무선인터넷 요금과 직관되는 무선인터넷 접속 시간을 줄이기 위한 서비스 메뉴의 엄선, 그리고 마지막으로 대학 당국의 일관성 있는 재정 지원이 필요함을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to suggest and measure the ways to activate the use of wireless internet services in university libraries. For this, 1 reviewed the concepts and characteristics of wireless internet and investigated both local and foreign cases on wireless internet service of university libraries, library users'''' usage status, and their demands. Based on the case study and survey results, I suggest the strategic consideration and active publicity of university libraries, the introduction of the services students more prefer, the development of differentiated menus from ordinary wire internet services, and the consistent financial support of the university authority.

웹 정보체계에서 여러 가지 다양한 종류의 정보자원을 보다 효과적으로 관리하기 위하여, 인터넷 정보를 기술하고 있는 서로 다른 메타데이터 표준들간의 상호운용성 문제가 점차 중요한 비중을 차지하게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 IFLA의 FRBR, INDECS, ABC 모델 등의 상호연동 모델들을 비교·분석함으로서, 다양한 형태의 메타데이터간의 상호연동을 위한 새로운 방식의 상호운용성 모델을 개발, 제안하였다. 리소스모델의 기본·메타데이터 항목 요소들로부터 중심이 되는 개체(core entity)와 이와 연관된 주요 사건(core event)들을 식별하고. 이를 리소스중심 중간모델과 이벤트중심 중간모델로 변환(swapping)하는 과정을, 구체적인 방법을 제시함으로써, 이들 모델간 전환 방법을 명확하게 제시하였다.
Abstract
The Dublin Core, MARC. IFLA-FRBR user communities are developing international standards for describing textual, physical and audiovisual resources to enable their resources discovery over the Internet. Therefore the metadata interoperability Problem has been exacerbated by the need for more complex metadata descriptions. In this paper we propose a new mechanism for metadata interoperability based on the new semantic web applications : IFLA-FRBR framework, INDECS metadata and an event-aware ABC models. This study introduces a new approach method which is essential to the generation of interoperable metadata descriptions, particularly in the context of multimedia contents.

본 연구에서는 한국과학기술정보연구원에서 구축중인 한국과학기술인용색인을 바탕으로 국내 주요 과학기술계 학술지에 수록된 연구 논문을 중심으로 연구자들의 인용현황을 분석하였다. 또한 기계공학 분야를 실험 대상으로 선정하여 현재 SCI의 기계공학 분야의 인용 순위와 비교한 결과 SCI의 JCR과는 실질적인 차이가 있음을 발견하였다. 본 연구는 국내 연구자에게 분야별 필수적인 연구 정보원의 제공과 국내 기관별, 분야별 과학기술 수준을 파악하고 평가하기 위한 도구로서 활용이 가능한 한국인용색인데이터베이스의 효율적인 구축방안 및 서비스모델을 제안한다.
Abstract
In this study we analyze the present situation of cited and citing references among researchers, based on Korean Science Citation Index developed by Korea Institute of Science & Technology Information. There are some differences on the rank of frequently cited journals between JCR of ISI and KSCI, especially in the field of mechanical engineering. The purpose of this study is to find an efficient way of constructing KSCI database and to propose a service model which can be available as a tool to evaluate research activities and to provide researcher with basic information resources.

노인들을 위한 정보서비스는 우리나라 공공도서관의 새로운 도전이다. 공공도서관을 주체로 하는 인터넷기반 노인정보서비스를 개발하기 위하여 노인들의 정보원 정보요구 그리고 정보이용 현황을 조사하였다. 1060명의 노인에 대한 면접조사를 수행하여 분석한 결과, 노인들은 대중매체와 비공식 구두 커뮤니케이션을 선호하며, 요구정보는 건강의료, 뉴스, 취미, 종교, 레저여행의 순서로 나타났다. 23%에 해당하는 인터넷 이용 노인들의 활용현황과 인터넷 비이용자들의 장애요인을 식별하였다. 분석결과와 선행연구를 기초로 하여, 정보개발 참고봉사 인터페이스 교육 등으로 구성된 서비스 개발 모델과 협동운영방식을 제안하였고 향후 발전을 위한 문제점과 개선방안을 제시하였다.
Abstract
Information service for the aged is a new challenge for public libraries in Korea. To develop an internet-based information service at public library perspectives, information sources, information need, and information seeking and using behavior are investigated. Interview survey is performed to 1060 adults aged 60 and over. Finding revealed that the respondents led to few channels to information except for mass media and informal oral communication. It ascertain ways in which 23% of the respondents currently use internet, and identify barriers of nonusers. The information need of the elderly are diverse, but health/medicine, news, hobbies, religion, leisure/travel are most identified need in descending order. Based on data analysis and previous research results, a cooperative service model consisting of information contents, online reference, interface design, and education is developed. Finally problems and suggestions for future improvement are discussed.

본 연구의 목적은 이용자 연구와 국내외 기존 시스템의 기능을 분석한 자료를 기반으로 하여 맞춤정보서비스를 제공하는 MyCyberLibrary의 모형을 설계한 후 이를 평가하여 좀 더 효율적인 정보서비스를 제공하기 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것이다. MyCyberLibrary 모형은 최신정보제공서비스, 전자저널/e-book 관리, 데이터베이스 관리. 컬렉션 관리, 프로젝트 관리, 전자지정자료 관리, 도서관 정보서비스 관리, 파일통합 관리, 저작권 관리의 총 9개 서브시스템들로 구성된다. 또한 모형의 효율성을 측정하기 위해서 프로토타입 시스템을 구성하여 40명의 이용자를 대상으로 시스템의 만족도를 조사하고 시스템의 기능을 향상시키기 위한 세 가지 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data for providing library information services of high quality with clients, by designing the model of MyCyberLibrary and evaluating it. The model of MyCyberLibrary was constructed based on the survey results on the information-seeking behavior of users and on the review of the existing mylibraries′functions. The model is implemented into the prototype system which consists of nine modules. Finally, we evaluated the proposed system via mail questionnaires, and proposed three suggestions to make this system a much more comprehensive and effective one.

본 연구는 디지털참고정보서비스의 최근 개발 동향을 고찰한 것이다. 디지털참고정보서비스와 관련한 국내외 선행 연구를 개관하였고 기술 개발로 인한 새로운 서비스 패러다임을 설명하였다. 그리고 웹 상의 참고정보서비스로서 도서관이 제공하는 것, 출판사에 의한 것, 전문가에 의한 것, 그리고 이용자 직접 탐색 등을 간략하게 열거하였다. 최근의 추세는 협력 모델이 주목을 받고 있으므로 Collaborative Digital Reference Service(CDRS)와 같은 디지털참고정보서비스 협력을 중점적으로 소개하였다. 도서관 전문직들은 디지털 환경에 적합한 참고정보서비스 협력에 관심을 가지고 그 필요성을 분석해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This paper describes recent developments and trends of digital reference services. A brief overview of selected research on issues surrounding digital reference service is provided. It also discusses how technological developments in libraries have led to the emergence of new service paradigms. This paper briefly reviews reference and information services provided by libraries, those from publishers, those provided by experts, and those where users need to conduct a search and find information through the web. The current trend shows that the cooperative model is increasingly popular. Some projects on collaborative digital reference services(CDRS) are introduced. Librarians will need to continue analyzing the need for cooperative work in the reference service in a digital environment.

본 연구에서는 웹 검색 이용자들의 전반적인 검색 행태를 이해하기 위하여 국내에서 널리 사용되고 있는 웹 검색 서비스 네이버에서 생성된 검색 트랜잭션 로그를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 웹 검색 트랜잭션 로그 분석에 필요한 세션 정의 방법을 설명하고 로그 정제 및 질의 유형 분류방법을 제시하였으며, 한글 검색 트랜잭션 로그 분석에 필수절인 검색어 정의 방법을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 보다 효과적인 국내 웹 검색 시스템 개발과 서비스 구축에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
In order to investigate information seeking behavior of web search users, this study analyzes transaction logs posed by users of NAVER, a major Korean Internet search service. We present a session definition method for Web transaction log analysis, a way of cleaning original logs and a query classification method. We also propose a query term definition method that is necessary for Korean Web transaction log analysis. It is expected that this study could contribute to the development and implementation of more effective Web search systems and services.

본 연구에서는 한 번 방문한 이용자들의 방문횟수를 계속해서 유지시켜줄 수 있는 패션잡지 사이트의 구성에 대하여 연구하고자 한다. 이용자들이 사이트들을 쉽게 방문할 수 있게 하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있겠지만, 홈페이지의 구성이 이용자들에게 어떻게 받아들여지느냐에 따라 많이 작용될 것이다. 그러므로, 이를 위하여 국내에서 운영중인 웹 패션잡지 7개를 선정하여 웹기반의 패션잡지의 이용 편리성을 콘텐츠, 디자인, 네비게이션, 서비스 측면에서 측정하였다. 또한 40명의 10·20대 남녀 피험자들 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 통해서 7개의 웹 패션잡지를 탐색하게 한 후에 최종 이용자의 행태를 조사·분석하였다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 콘텐츠, 디자인, 네비게이션, 서비스 측면에서 제공할 수 있는 패션잡지의 효과적인 웹사이트 모형을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The purposes of this study were to examine the features of web fashion magazines and to suggest an effective website model for them. Seven web fashion magazines were analyzed. The evaluating criteria included: contents, design, navigation, and services. In addition, online-questionnaires were sent to 40 end users to obtain the information regarding user behaviors on the elected web fashion magazines. The results show that a suggested model should include various aspects: 1) providing currents information. 2) consistency in design, 3) easy in navigation, and 4) searching function etc.
