Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analysis the types of cited materials. dependence ratio of foreign information of researchers. and half-life of some cited analysis. Journal articles from four science & technology fields-mechanical, architectural, chemical, electrical-are selected, and the literatures cited by those journal articles are analysed in terms of resource types. languages, publication year of cited analysis. In result, it was found that the order of frequency of citation is scholarly journal, monograph, proceeding, technical report. And dependence ratio of foreign information of researchers was most higher in the chemical field. Also. it was found that half-life of mechanical is 6.50, that of architectural is 5.45, that of chemical is 9.65, that of electrical is 5.60.

Abstract

In this study an information filtering system was implemented and a series of relevance feedback experiments were conducted using the system. For the relevance feedback, the original queries were searched against the database and the results were reviewed by the researchers. Based on users' online relevance judgements a pair of 17 refined queries were generated using two methods called "co-occurrence exclusion method" and "lower frequencies exclusion method." In order to generate them, the original queries. the descriptors and category codes appeared in either relevant or irrelevant document sets were applied as elements. Users' relevance judgments on the search results of the refined queries were compared and analyzed against those of the original queries. [ 더 많은 내용 보기 ]

Abstract

To understand current state of the digital reference services in Korean academic libraries, a comprehensive examination and analysis was performed. Data was collected from July 8. 2003 to July 22. 2003, through direct site examination and recording the question and answer transcripts. The analysis focused on the provision characteristics and use of the digital reference services. Results revealed interesting findings and related problems. Suggestions for future development are provided.

Abstract

When we introduce knowledge management system in our organization, first of all, we need to change the way of motivating the members so as to voluntarily activate knowledge sharing activity. For this, it is very important to establish fair evaluation and adequate reward system about knowledge contribution. In this study, I hypothesized a desirable evaluation and reward model for knowledge contribution on the basis of analysis of documents and cases concerning them in domestic enterprises and R&D institutes that adopted knowledge management. Also, I took a survey to analyze the response of the members of KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) about the evaluation and reward for knowledge contribution. I expect that the analysis results of this study can be applied very usefully in R&D institutes that want to introduce knowledge management.

Abstract

This paper shows that digital libraries can be understood through STIN models which emphasize interactions among components in networks. The enrollment strategies in the American Memory make human and non-human factors interact. Specifically, this paper articulates that the relationships between users and collections, between users and staff, and between users and users are closely linked through the strategies. Observing the linkages among these components, this paper found that the enrollment processes not only draw users to the American Memory, but also alter roles of components and creates new roles and players for them. The alterations of roles and the resulting changes of relationships among components mean that digital libraries lead to transform the grounding of knowledge works in a society.

Abstract

With SDI service provided in libraries and information centers traditionally, this paper studies component technologies and structure of system platform in PIS (personalization information service based on the customized information service served currently in some institutions. The PIS system should provide relevant information as an output through the learning system analyzing user information searching behavior as an input value with personal profile information. To do it, this paper studies requirements and algorithms to develop PIS, and proposes learning system and recommendation system as core components in PIS.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how information use contributes to learning. Conducted as part of a larger study. this study focuses on learning by analyzing students' use of cognitive skills during the process of using information. Within the broad methodological framework of qualitative research in constructivist paradigm (Guba and Lincoln. 1998), the study applied the revised Bloom's taxonomy (Anderson and Krathwohl, 2000) as a particular framework to understand the phenomenon. Participants included 21 high school juniors in an honors' class of persuasive speech. The study's combinational use of two techniques concept mapping and individual interview - in a naturalistic setting proved to be the unique methods for researching the reflection of information use in learning products. The results revealed that changes in students' understanding occured in four types - simple, analytic, organizational, and holistic changes. The analysis using the revised Bloom's taxonomy showed that a variety of cognitive skills were used during the whole process of information use and that the use of higher levels of cognitive skills is particularly crucial. Abstract

This study is a case study that attempt to quantify the economic efficiency of "digital library program(DLP) of the National Library of Korea" by means of cost-benefit analysis. Results indicate that the B/C ratio is 1.70 which can be interpreted the economic efficiency of DLP is very high. Of particular significance is the fact that this study empirically proves that the digital library program is economically efficient.

Abstract

With the rapid development of information technology and internet in these days, resources of knowledge information have been digitalized and distributed on the internet. However, the location of digital content and a change of content have generated problems for users access and services. In line with this regard, the research on the identification of digital content utilizing standardized identification system and distribution system is necessary. This study intends to contribute to the implementation of information system based on standard digital identifier for the effective management and safe distribution of digital contents. This study first tries to survey SDI outline, practical application case and distributed business model and to analyze information distribution status. Finally, this study tries to draw up a plan for the establishment of KISTI's SDl. content identification system, content distribution system.

Abstract

This study introduces the integration-style knowledge management of digital libraries in extended library concept, for integrated knowledge system which can provide various types of knowledge, and presents the knowledge-pumpknowledge management model. By applying the model to the cases of several institutions, the processes and levels of extension are analyzed, and the important tasks for activating knowledge management are suggested. The knowledge pump embodies ideal roles of the digital libraries that activate the acquisition and distribution of knowledge. It is significant that the digital libraries, which used to remain as a simple application of information technology, not only present logical basis and way for extending their roles and areas. but also explain the implementation methodologies.

Abstract

The Inverse Document Frequency (IDF) weighting method is based on the hypothesis that in the document collection the lower the frequency of a term is, the more important the term is as a subject word. This well-known hypothesis is, however, somewhat questionable because some low frequency terms turn out to be insufficient subject words. This study suggests the pivoted IDF weighting method for better retrieval effectiveness, on the assumption that medium frequency terms are more important than low frequency terms. We thoroughly evaluated this method on three test collections and it showed performance improvements especially at high ranks.

Abstract

In companies competing for today's information society. Data quality deterioration is causing a negative influence to generate company competitiveness fall and new cost. A lot of preceding study about data quality have been proceeded in order to solve a problem of these data quality deterioration. Among the sides of data quality, it has been studied mainly on quality of the data value and quality of data service that are the results quality concept. However, this study studied structural quality of the data which were cause quality concept in a viewpoint of metadata management and presented data quality management maturity model through this. Also empirically this study verified that data quality improved if the management level matured.

Abstract

Knowledge Management is presented as the management method having the survival and competition of enterprise under variously changing management environment. Knowledge Management is introduced recently as successful survival strategy of advanced enterprise. Scientifically, however, the definition, study model and propulsion method of KM leave much to be desired, and now it has become the subjects of active study among scholars. To creation of the competitive power of the company have to be important knowledge based continuous innovation. That is to say, the knowledge management means a lot to knowledge assets included knowledge. knowledge creating, sharing, and acting. This study aims to propose models on the research result based a case study of the financial industry in knowledge creating processes(SECI) and deriving knowledge management styles in the filed works of the bank.
